Real Hair or Synthetic hair. Which one would you choose?

This is a bit of a tricky one as synthetic and human hair both have different benefits.

I wear both types of wigs but probably wear the human hair ones more often, however, the human hair wigs do take a more effort in styling and straightening. With synthetic wigs you can literally put on and go as they retain curls and styles a lot better than human hair. When I’ve given presentations about Afuro Hair and Beauty and what we sell I always have samples so that people can see and feel products from our website. People cannot tell the difference between the human hair wigs and the synthetic wigs. Technology has come on leaps and bounds with synthetic fibres. You can even heat some synthetic fibres up to 180 degrees, there is normally a tag to advise you that you can do this.

The clincher for some people is price and synthetic wigs are really cost effective when compared to human hair wigs. However, human hair wigs will last longer than synthetic wigs. Synthetic wigs can last up to 12 weeks with continuous wear and maintained with the appropriate synthetic hair care products.

Difference Between a Real Hair & Synthetic Wigs

When shopping for a wig or hairpiece you have a lot of options- what style, what colour, what design and so on. However, the biggest decision you will need to make is whether to purchase a human hair wig or one made with synthetic hair. In order to decide you need to really understand the difference between human hair wigs and those made with synthetic hair.

What is the Difference Between a Human Hair Wig and a Synthetic Hair Wig?

As the names point out a human hair wig is made with actual hair from other people. Synthetic hair wigs are crafted from man-made fibres. However, the differences go farther than just the materials used to make the wigs.  Read more…

How would you cut your wig?

I was at a networking event this morning, yes this MORNING at 6.45am! Nuts or genius…..I’ll have to let you know.

Anyhow, after explaining what Afuro Hair and Beauty does, I had many numerous compliments on how lovely my hair looked. Hahaha I just LOVE wearing wigs. Just so that you can also oohh and aahh over my hair I’ve attached a photo below. I’ve also attached a photo of myself wearing the wig before it was cut.

No I don't require use of the loo. It just could have been warmer.

I was unsure at first but I love this cut now

I was explaining that the wig is 18″ long throughout so the fringe was also 18″ and I just went into a hairdressers, Francesco’s in Newcastle under Lyme Staffs, and had the lovely Matt cut it for me. All I said was “I want a fringe but keep the rest of the hair the same” and viola! I have this gorgeous cut.

The rule that I live by when having a wig cut,is that the hairdresser starts off by cutting off a little then working there way up as the hair isn’t going to grow back any time soon.

I have to say that since having my hair cut I have been attracting more attention, especially from the male of the species but I’m not complaining!

Just in case your wondering this is the Sleek 100% Human Hair Lace Front Wig – Diva in colour 1B.33 available from www.afuro.co.uk

I was also asked if I was wearing the wig when it was cut. I realised from that questions that people may take there wig, unattached to your head, to the hairdresser and have it cut.

An important point I’d like to raise is that when you have a wig or hair extension cut, you MUST ensure that the wig or hair extensions are re-fitted in the correct place it was cut in. I’ve made a boo boo with putting this wig back on in the exact same position as it was cut in. I’ve come to realise that I should make sure that the wig is on straight before it is cut……I’m only human…Oh well you live and learn and live to tell the story!

I personally I think it’s best to be wearing the wig when it cuts so that it can be shaped to your face. If you take the wig in and it’s cut on a stand then how can it be cut to compliment your face? That could be the reason why some wigs are slightly obvious looking than others.

What do you think? What would or do you do? Have you taken your wig in and had it cut? Was it a good cut?

How to choose a hair style that will suit your face shape?

This is a question that I’ve been asked a few times and as I’ve been wearing wigs for a while now it’s not something that I consciously think about any more. I can look at a style of wig and know that it will suit my face.  However, thinking back to my first purchase of a wig, the hair style didn’t compliment my face at all. From that first temporary set back I worked out that certain hair styles just doesn’t suit me.

You can use software like this to find a hair style that suits your face. The Virtual Hairstyle Gallery allows you to choose from thousands of styles and there are articles that walk (talk) you through your wig/hair style of choice.

How to Pick Women Hairstyles That Suit Your Face Shape

The latest trend for women hairstyles might not necessarily suit your face. Instead of following the trend, it is more important to have a hairstyle that flatters your face. This article talks picking good women hairstyles that best suit your face shapes.

If you are an oval face gal, you are in luck. Oval face shapes are considered the most balanced shape and all kinds of women hairstyles (short, medium length or long) will flatter your face. Don’t hide your face behind lots of hair; let the world see your perfectly balanced face. Read more…
