What Is A Drawstring Ponytail and how to attach it…
I get a lot of questions asking how to put on a drawstring ponytail. I had one lady who just couldn’t understand how they worked, no matter how I explained it to her.
Human hair Ponytails are a quick and easy way of changing you hair style with very little effort. As it takes very little effort, I of course love them. With that in mind I thought I’d show you how easy they are to use.
As you can see, human hair drawstring ponytails can make a big difference in looks. Now I’m sure your wondering how to get the thing on your head?
The above images show the “cap” of the drawstring ponytail, where you would put your hair and attach the ponytail. You can also use a grip clip inside the ponytail to attach it to your head. Then use tighten the drawstring for added security.
It only takes a few minutes to do this.It only took me a few minutes to do put this on. I’m wearing a Freetress Ponytail called Calla and I also wore this ponytail while I went cycling. I cycle really fast so that goes to show you how secure these ponytails are.
Now you don’t have to take my word for how great ponytails are….Take someone elses.
17 Ponytails Tip
Ponytails have been around since the beginning of mankind. Images of the earliest cavemen and women indicated that they tied their hair back off their heads with various “natural” pony holders such as vines, soft twigs or pieces of animal fur.
Since those caveman days the ponytail has evolved and changed through many civilizations and historical periods.
The ancient Egyptians, both men and women (of all ages), wore versions of ponytails to keep the intense heat off of their necks and faces. The early Greeks and Romans also wore a version of pulled back strands akin to today’s pony hairstyles.
Modern day celebrities like Mischa Barton, Brittany Murphy, Jennifer Aniston and Jessica Simpson love to wear ponytails for both casual and formal wear.
With every popular style that regularly cycles in and out of hair fashion there are a series of tips that can be gleaned that make taking a ponytail trip a more pleasant experience.
There are also various myths that arise about any type of hair style, including the seemingly innocent pony.
Listed below are 17 ponytail tips that include various myths, facts and ponytail trivia. Read more…..
A Wig or Headscarf – Which do you prefer?
At Afuro Hair and Beauty we believe that you should give something back to your local community and that is why I volunteer for a few hours a week at the North Staffordshire University Hospital.
This week I was on the Cancer Department and was talking to an absolutely lovely lady, who is slightly bonkers and is probably why we got on so well, called Frances Hibbert. Frances was having Chemotherapy and we were talking about random things. Honest our conversation was as random as you can get. Anyhow, we got onto the topic of wigs and Frances says “Oh no, I’d never wear one of those things!”.
So in between giggles as I’m new to interviewing, we embark on some light hearted questioning:
Mary: So Frances, we were talking about wigs and your personal thoughts about wigs. .
Frances: I don’t particular like them. I think they look like hats or mops on top of heads.
Mary: So wigs aren’t for you?
Frances: Personally wigs are not for me. I’d prefer to wear a hat or a bandanna.
Mary: Why do you feel more comfortable in a hat or bandanna than a wig?
Frances: To me a wig seems big, bulky and heavy.
Mary: Did you try these wigs through the NHS and privately?
Frances: Both
Mary: Human or Synthetic Hair?
Frances: Both. I do object that I would have had to pay for any wig I purchased, which was what I was advised when I firsthad Chemotherapy.
Mary: Where do purchase the bandanna’s from?
Frances: From any local shop. I went to Ascot last year and I wore a long head scarf and a hat with a band around it.
Mary: So you felt good…
Frances: Well I wouldn’t have said that I felt good. I felt better than if I’d gone with a bald head or a wig on.
Mary: I bet you looked really cool as that sounds very stylish and that’s what Ascots all about, style.
I found this conversation very insightful as I’d always wondered why some women wear head scarves as opposed to wigs. When I told Frances that my hair was a wig, she was very impressed. She was also very impressed that my natural hair, al afro or ‘fro as I call it, could fit under the wig, as I did show her a photo of myself without the wig on.Even seeing how good a wig can look, Francis prefers to do without them.
Head scarf’s have always been a fashion item that celebs have been wearing for some time now. Paris Hilton is a prime example, then there’s Halle Berry and you can’t miss out Posh Spice, sorry Victoria Beckham..
I wear wig because I choose to, which is completely different from wearing a wig because you have to. Therefore a wig in the eyes of some people is something that they will never try as it represents something that they do not like.
It’s down to preferences. Some people like Marmite and some don’t…
I would like to thanks Frances for taking a few minutes to talk to me and to have given me an sight to the other side of the coin about wigs… I also wish her well with her treatment and I’m looking forward to hearing from her in the near future!
Transgender and Wigs
So there I was strolling through Manchester City and I glanced at a lady, who aside from being rather tall and stood out from the crowd, was wearing a wig which just sat on her head.
Hey I’m a online retailer specialising in wigs and Hair extensions, so that will be the first thing that I’ll notice about people. Just like a dentist will always focuses on peoples teeth before anything else. Plus I love what I do.
Then I took really good look at her face and realised that it was a man.
Now you may think, as some of my family and friends did, that it was a dare or a joke. I saw the look on this guy’s face and it wasn’t the look of someone doing this for a joke. He looked nervous and determined all at once.
It took my brain a couple of minutes to process that it was man, by which time he’d walked down the street but then did a u-turn and came right back passed me.
That’s when I really looked at his face. He looked like he was going to be ill and was sort of hyperventilating. Thinking about it, to walk around a busy city centre on a Saturday afternoon, takes courage and determination.
From what I’ve read about transgender, you live the life a women/man for a period of time before you have the operation so that you have time to assess if this is the right decision for you. That’s what I thought was what was happening as he was very much man looking and walking. Plus seeing people look, laugh and point didn’t sit well with me. Rather than being understanding or asking themselves what else could this mean, people were more comfortable ridiculing what they didn’t understand.
I watched Tears, Tiaras and Transsexuals ,which aired on Channel 4 last year and found it fascinating. You get a really good insight of how brave you have to be to follow your dreams. Plus some of the women look absolutely gorgeous!
Talking of gorgeous there was also Isis who competed in America’s Top Model who looks fantastic.
So what did I do…. Well I ran after him and gave him by business card. The synthetic wig he was wearing could have been loads better and more subtle and I know that the wigs I sell are of a much superior quality, as I wear them myself! If I’d let him go without giving him my card I wouldn’t have slept and it would have played on my mind.
Tv Soap Star wigs out
The one question that people ask me is “Are you bald to have to wear a wig?”. The reason I wear a wig is that I’m lazy but like to look good.
When I mention that Beyonce wears a wig, people are shocked. In this day and age loads of people wear wigs for a multitude of reasons and mine is just one.
Slapping the myth “You have to be bald or less than healthy to wear wig” is Kara Tointion. She seems to have gone through s phase of wearing wigs even though her natural hair is gorgeous. I’m going to guess that she has the same outlook on life and wants to look great but is sometimes, well all the time for me, too lazy to be bothered with doing anything with your hair. Since wearing a wig my hair has grown loads and when I wear it al naturel, which isn’t often, even my Mum thinks it’s a wig. When I told her it was my real hair, she couldn’t believe that my hair had grown so long and looked so healthy.
Plus Kara Tointon is of a similar age to myself (cough, splutter….) goes to show that anyone, of any age can indulge themselves in a new look. She looks great in her wigs and there are some great synthetic wigs, around today, which are really hard to tell from Human Hair Wigs.
THE Inside Soap Awards took place this week, with several starlets looking more dud than sexy soap sud.
